Cold Steel’s Gladius Machete finds its roots in the sword used by Celtic tribes of ancient Iberia (Spain) and adopted by the Roman Legions. The Gladius, with its long, narrow point and wasp waisted blade, was the scourge of the battlefield and often the last thing seen or felt by Rome’s enemies.
The Gladius is a popular design. Cold Steel created this modern version of the ancient classic in a machete/sword format to fit the budget of collectors wishing to have one of their own. It is made from 1055 carbon steel and hand sharpened. The blade is full tang for strength and sports a classically inspired handle that offers the standard guard and ball shaped pommel of years gone by. Comes compete with a sturdy Cor-Ex¢ sheath and belt loop.
